Generally speaking, electrical panels have a lifespan of 25-40 years. During that time frame there is a multitude of events that could happen. Often times there is an advance in the technology of the breaker panel which could lead to better efficiency. Also, you could be living in a household that uses more energy than an average home would, causing there to be wear and tear on the panel. Also, if your panel was manufactured by Federal Pacific, Zinsco or Pushmatic it needs to be changed as well!

If the electrical panel is overheating, that means it is not longer able to withstand the amount of power your home outputs. If it is getting to this point you have likely noticed power “flickering”, or tripping a breaker more than what is considered normal.

If your current electric panel is made by Federal Pacific, Zinsco or Pushmatic it is also time to make a change to a new electrical panel. These brands are notorious for their malfunctions and are not recommended to be used, nor do we install these for our clients.
